Settling into the Ashton House Way…
It has been lovely welcoming all of the children into our new setting and getting to know each and every one of their little personalities. They have settled amazingly and are enjoying exploring their new environment, each week they are developing new ideas and finding ways to play.
The children have shown a keen interest in bugs, creating their own bug house and searching for bugs in the environment using their magnifying glasses. More recently, they have found the tap at the top of the hill which they are experimenting with, creating ‘waterfalls’, ball runs and channeling the water in different directions, working so well together. The children are developing their confidence on the balance bikes, navigating their way around the paths and up and down the hills.
It has been lovely watching the different ages interact with each other, the younger children love to be around the older children. The older children ‘check in’ with the younger children to ensure they are ok, passing them toys and getting down on their level to talk to them. Our younger children have particularly enjoyed lots of sensory play, getting messy with paint, gloop, sand and water. The large sandpit outside is a great opportunity for the children to explore the sand using their whole bodies, having the sand between their toes and using their hands to explore. The climbing frame has been a great addition to their outdoor space, developing their physical skills and challenging themselves as they climb up the steps and having a great sense of achievement as they make it to the top.
