Q. How did your story begin at Ashton House?

E. I began my journey at Ashton House after studying teacher training at Northumbria Early Primary Education. After doing so, I realised Early Years was where I was happiest and found Ashton House the perfect pace to pursue that. I was Room Leader within Grasshoppers before becoming room leader in Caterpillars. During my time here, I have studied and gained my Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) at Chester University with the help and support of the Ashton House Team.

Q. What values are important to you?

E. Family and friendships are really important to me. It forms the reasoning behind why I am so passionate about the Ashton House ethos.

Q. Tell us a fun or unique fact about yourself?

E. I hope to run the London Marathon in October raising money for Mind Charity and I am currently in training for the Chester half marathon.

Q. What are your favourite things about Ashton House?

E. Ashton House values qualities in children such as resilience, perseverance and kindness through risk taking in a nurturing environment. The outdoor space the children are able to explore is so unique and unlike anywhere else.

Q. How do you relax?

E. When I am not working, I like to relax by walking my dog and socialising with friends. I enjoy going to the Lake District for walks or on short breaks away.

Q. How did your past roles at Ashton House prepare you for your role as Deputy Manager?

E. As the Room Leader in the Caterpillar room and Early Years Teacher at Ashton Hayes, I am forever learning from the experienced, dedicated and passionate role models that surround me, providing me with the knowledge that I can carry forward through to my new role. I am continually learning from my team around me and through working closely with Mandy, the Nursery Manager.

Q. What is your favourite memory from your time at Ashton House?

E. This is extremely hard but I would say my favourite days start with a child coming into nursery excited to share a new experience or interest which we then shape the entire day around.

Q. What are you most looking forward to?

E. I think summers at Ashton House are so special. Even though we are outside year round whatever the weather, sunshine brings something special to our adventures whether that is water fights, messy play or dancing on the grass.

Q. What would your one piece of nursery wisdom be?

It’s not about the end result, it’s about the process the children go through to get there.
